Hash House Horrors

Eens in de twee weken lopen Mabel en Arnoud mee met de Singapore Hash. Wat is de Hash?

It is basically a fun-run, following a trail of flour through varied terrain - from the flattest pavements, to the jungle. The trail is set earlier in the day by the 'Hares'. Just follow the flour and/or paper markers! Occasionally there will be a circle - which means that the trail is broken and restarts close by - and the kids must 'check' and find the restart. Also you might sometimes reach a large T - which means that you have gone the wrong way, and need to go back down the trail to find the right route. Remember that you are following a trail - if you can't see the flour, stop and go back to where you last saw it - don't just continue - always make sure you are still on the trial. The front-runners will shout 'On On' to indicate that we are still on the trail - when you see a flour mark you can help the people behind you by shouting 'On On'. .

Weer of wind, er wordt gelopen. Het is erg leuk en we zien verrassende plekken van het eiland. De loop wordt uitgezet door een van de deelnemers, na de zomer zijn Mabel en ik een keer aan de beurt. Na de loop is er een picknick en spelletjes voor de kinderen. Het is schijnbaar oorspronkelijk in Malaysia begonnen, maar is inmiddels bekend rond de wereld. Hier in Singapore is het leuke mix van internationale kinderen die meedoen. Het leukste is natuurlijk als het flink regent en de bossen/jungles in een modderpoel veranderen.
